Personal Statement: We joined the Street Lane family in September 2018 when my daughter started in reception. I work in HR and having worked in the private sector for 15 years I moved over to the public sector in 2019 in order to improve my work life balance. Within my role I have to deal with a wide range of scenarios and be able to offer advice and support to people who don’t always know what the appropriate next steps are. I was really proud to be come a ‘Mental Health First Aider’ back in January 2019.
Its not an easy task working full time, juggling my husbands shifts and a daughter who has a busy social life however it has meant that I have transferred the organisational skills I use in my working life into homelife - not always successfully, admittedly.
As a family we enjoy spending time together – we love trips to the cinema and film nights with pizza at home. My husband and daughter are also keen cyclists and they go off for miles while I get on with a good book. We started doing a lot more gardening in 2020 and we are very proud of our purple sprouting broccoli and a particularly grand blueberry bush – I’m still not sure if its little fingers or the birds that get all the fruit before I get a look in!

Personal statement:
I have worked in both the public sector and commercial businesses for over 40 years from a girl Friday to a Director of a waste management company. l am a qualified to teach 16-year-olds to adults which I did for many years.

I have always had an active part in my children’s education both inside the classroom and outside at sports and fundraising events. At my children’s school I became Chair of the Friends of the School and later invited to be a governor before moving from Buckinghamshire to Derbyshire.

I have recently been actively working with local business to help schools gain facilities that they may not have had the money for, one such project was to help with reading where we took the story from inside to the outside. We created a bridge made out of recycled wood to crossover to the vegetable plot, then created a willow circle where a storyteller’s chair was placed, seating was made out of logs from trees that had been cut down in the school grounds. I have also been very active in all Derby primary schools introducing recycling methods and projects gaining many schools their eco awards. I was also a school governor at two schools in Derby and held the post of resources manager. I worked with the business manager of the two schools to do a tender process for their school’s meals.

Now both of my grandchildren will be at Street Lane from September I am delighted to be a community governor and look forward to contributing anything that I can that will assist in its continued success.
